Here’s something most people never get told: in a riding like ours, the contest that matters most isn’t always the general election. It’s the nomination — the vote where local party members choose whose name goes on the ballot. A few hundred neighbours, one room, one list.
If you’re not on that list, someone else chooses for you.
How to make your voice count (2 minutes, $10)
- Step 1: Go to the UCP’s official membership page: unitedconservative.ca/take-action/membership.
- Step 2: Buy or renew a membership — $10 for one year. Use your home address here in Grande Prairie–Wapiti, because your address decides which nomination you can vote in.
- Step 3: Do it before Monday, August 11. Memberships bought after the cutoff won’t qualify you to vote in this nomination.
- Step 4: Tell us you’re in — so our team can make sure you’re counted, and let you know when and where the vote happens.
Who can join
Per the party’s rules: you must live in Alberta (at least six of the last twelve months), be a Canadian citizen, and be at least 14 years old. You pay for your own membership — that’s the rule, and it’s a good one.
Why I’m telling you how the machine works
Because that’s what a trusted voice does. The insiders already know all of this — the deadline, the cutoff, the list. The only people who lose when nobody explains it are regular folks. My whole campaign is built on a simple idea: give people the information first, and let them decide.
